Delivering a Healthy Lifestyle.
Plant-based oils can be a good source of important nutrients. Many oils, however, are not rich enough in key nutrients to deliver health benefits.
To help solve this challenge, we’ve worked with safflower plants – a robust, oil-rich plant – to produce high levels of nutrients that are not prevalent in our diets.
We launched our first product, SONOVA® GLA Safflower Oil in 2012 and maintain an active nutritional oils development program.
A Top Source for An Essential Omega-6 Fatty Acid.
SONOVA GLA Safflower Oil.
Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) is an omega-6 fatty acid found in only a handful of plant-based oils such as borage, evening primrose, and black currant oil. Because of low concentrations of GLA in these sources, as well as inconsistent supply, we developed safflower plant varieties high in GLA. In 2012 we launched SONOVA GLA Safflower Oil to give consumers a new source for GLA – one that enables them to get the benefits of GLA by taking fewer capsules than other sources. Visit our SONOVA GLA website to learn more about the health benefits and product advantage of our unique GLA oil products.
A Key Formulation For Neurological Health And Development.
High Arachidonic Acid Safflower Oil.
ARA is an omega-6 fatty acid that is present in mother’s milk and plays a critical role in the neural and visual development of infants. ARA is one of the most abundant fatty acids in the brain, and neurological health is reliant upon sufficient levels of ARA. The use of ARA oil in infant formulas has been shown to provide developmental benefits similar to breastfeeding, and its use has been reviewed and supported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the European Food Safety Association, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the World Health Organization.
We’ve developed a novel safflower variety that produces oil with consistently high levels of ARA. Arcadia’s ARA-rich safflower oil will provide a concentrated, reliable, sustainable and cost-effective alternative to support infant development. Our ARA-rich safflower is currently in late-stage development.
